We are around the curve from New River State Park where hiking, canoeing, kayaking, fly fishing, and biking are just some of the favorite activities available virtually out the back door. Bring your canoe or kayak or rent one from the outfitters located right next door, New River Outfitters. Here you are sure to find a fun-filled day on the water.

In the winter we are within a reasonable drive to the area’s ski resorts.

Ashe County is famous for its great natural beauty and for its art scene. Shop downtown and check out the artists, galleries and gift shops that give our area a special touch. Or perhaps you would be interested in one of the area’s premier golf courses. We’d be happy to fill you in on all the choices of great things to do, all you need to do is ask.

We are also within a short drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway, America's favorites scenic drive. Hike, bike, take a scenic drive or enjoy a picnic.

You can also visit Thistle Meadow Winery and experience one of the area's finest wineries. Also, located at the winery is Grapestompers, where you can pick up supplies to make your own wine, and while you are there you can plan a buffet lunch at the Burgess Barn. Activities await your arrival and all are just a short drive away.
